Sweet Taste of Something Sour

Lately, I've been stuck on watching Lemonade Mouth (especially because I haven't had much homework the past two weeks), just like the time I've been stuck on watching Pitch Perfect or even Radio Rebel... Or Bandslam. Honestly speaking, I've been stuck watching Disney movies for weeks and this one is the most recent. I'd love to talk about it, especially, because it's got a lot of story. It touches a whole lot of topics and a whole lot of personalities in separate, yet unified ways.

It touches subjects like love, friendship and even reaching your dreams in unexpected times, with unexpected people. Anyone whose anyone could relate to this in a way everyone could understand. And maybe that's why I've spent almost two weeks watching it over and over again.

With this post, I'd like to give you guys a sweet taste of something sour, as the post title suggests. In simpler terms, I'd like to give you guys an overview of the Disney movie by character analysis.

Stella Yamada

First up is Stella Yamada. Rising from Rhode Island (with that crazy amazing hair), this girl is just as good as you think she is. She's not the front man but she's definitely the reason why Lemonade Mouth came to be. Literally. She's also about the strongest female figure in the movie. She's the lead guitarist of the band. Stella is your non-typical new girl rebel in a university where status quo is... status quo. But her plans of rebellion turn into plans of action against status quo and she perfectly creates a revolution of her own.

She changes everything and reaches high as everyone in the band to make a name for herself and to be unique among the rest. But beneath this strong and independent girl is an insecure soft-hearted scared girl that thinks she's too dumb to be in her own family. Little does she know that she's more than what she thinks she is.

Charlie Delgado

Here we have Charles "Charlie" Delgado--the underrated misunderstood younger brother that always gets compared with his older brother. We can also say that he's a hopeless romantic, that from the beginning of the movie, has hidden feelings for Mo (bassist). He's the drummer of the band and he's pretty awesome at it.

Despite being the drummer, his swag skills ain't really the best to think about since he is a soft type of person. His parents want him to be just as sporty and just as smart as his brother, Tommy Delgado. But deep inside his struggle to have the strength to tell his parents that he doesn't want to go to Stanford and be a soccer player, like his brother, he's strong enough to try things he never thought he could do.

Mo Banjaree

Don't be mislead by this sweet little princess every parent would want to have as their daughter because this girl is more than what you expect. She's not the typical I need to be perfect and strive for the best type of girl but that's exactly what her parents thought her out to be. Surprisingly, they're wrong!

This is Mo Banjaree--the bassist of Lemonade Mouth. Your stylish Indian sweetheart that has little secrets of her own. There's a lot to talk about Mo considering she has two sides in one shoe in the movie. She can be the shy, smart, fragile girl that is determined to get her grades off the bracket. But she can also be this loose, golden voiced fierce girl that has a boyfriend even though her parents don't allow it just yet (especially, her father!). She's that one type of person that secre-fies everything wonderful about her that makes her herself simply because her parents don't want to see her that way... Not even her boyfriend, Scott! But later as the movie transcends, she finally gets the guts to live up to everyone's standards and show everyone that this is the real her. And no one's going to stop her!

Wen Gifford

Your guy next door. Your happy-go-lucky friend. Your funny, feel-free keyboard player of Lemonade Mouth, that is also the main rapper of the group. This is Wen Gifford. The first thing you'd never guess about Wen is that he is definitely not as soft-hearted as you think, especially when it comes to his father's girlfriend, Sidney. Since the loss of his mother, he'd never accepted any other woman for his dad. But as the movie goes on, he learns to accept the things that are here and just remember the things that are not. And when it comes to talking about the apple of Wen's eyes, it's Olivia White (front man) we're going to talk about.

Wen is the everyone's friend type of guy. You'll get along with him almost right away with his easy going and laid back personality. And when there's a friend you'd want to lean on, Wen is there for you to have a shoulder to cry on.

Olivia White

When it comes to being shy and just rolling with the crowd, Olivia White is the one we're talking about. She may be the front man and the songwriter of the band but this girl has more to say than just that. She is sweet, charming and has an amazing voice. While it doesn't show, she's also this confident girl that is willing to try anything especially for the person she likes (Wenn Gifford) which is just about the reason why she came through with the band in the first place. As the story line goes on, we learn that Olivia's mom died when she was young, her father went to prison (while she's embarrassed to talk about it and to even talk to him) and she is now living with her grandmother.

This fragile young lady grows more confident and self-aware of herself as the movie goes on. Everything in her life turns upside down and everything just seemed right side up. All thanks to Wen and Lemonade Mouth!

Scott Pickett

This is the rebellious and self-righteous boyfriend of Mo. He is Scott Pickett. Your sporty badass wicked boy that was once the lead guitarist of Mudslide Crush up until the end of the movie wherein he turns from Mudslide Crush to Lemonade Mouth.

While he doesn't recognize in himself that he is turning into such a jerk while the movie transcends, he is awaken by Mo's change and urges him to change as well. From being the All-Time Jerk of the Year, he turns into the Savior of the Year. There's not much to talk about considering he wasn't in the band in the first place not until the end of the movie. But what I can say about Scott was his constant change in the movie. From being the badass boy to the good guy, once he finally gets dumped by Mo for the first time right after Mo's intervention.

To sum it all up, this genuine group of five is an inspiration to everyone who hasn't have their voice heard by millions just yet. This group of five will lead you into believing that dreams can turn into reality in the most unexpected times of their lives... Especially because they literally formed because they all got detention at the same day, therefore, letting them goof around in the school's basement, forming the band itself. Crazy, huh?
